This Holiday Inn feels like a HI Express but currently being converted to a regular HI. The building itself is smaller than a standard HI but has new bedding, furnishings, and is plenty comfortable. There is a restaurant downstairs but I rarely see anyone down there when passing by. The staff are all genuinely courteous and helpful. They take their jobs seriously and that's very much appreciated. The one downside is location as it's one mile from downtown St. Augustine. It's not a terrible distance but it's not next door either. In addition, there are no supermarkets or pharmacy style stores nearby either. Although, there are a good number of fast food places around so there are options for eating. All in all, compared to the average price this is a good place to stay.
Rooms are well kept and staff is polite. Small swimming pool and hot tub is available for relaxing. Fitness room consists of some dumbbells and cargo machines, pretty standard for hotel fitness.
The front desk rep George... he was amazing... George was very knowledgeable, patient, courteous, accommodating. He worked every day I was there (3) and he was always pleasant.
Very clean...very convenient to trolley stop (the old jail) .. it is about a 5 min walk. Traveled with my 11 year old son..very safe for children.The room was very clean and smelled fresh. The breakfast was delicious.
I have high expectations for Holiday Inn and this location exceeds them handily. My favorites about this particular hotel would be the very high end lobby area which feels like it belongs in a five star resort and the attention and professionalism of the staff. If you're planning a trip to the St Augustine area I doubt you'll find anything close to as comfortable in the price range.
Extremely noisy rooms. You can hear the housekeepers talk as well as other guests in the hallway. So clearly, as if they were standing right next to your bed. On the second morning the fire alarm went off because of a malfunction. Mind you, that was before 9am (not that I was still asleep seeing as guests woke me well before 7.30am). It was so incredibly loud I am still confused and half deaf because of it. Now about the room, I would have given it some extra stars for being pretty spacious! If it wasn't for the smelly room that literally smelled like farts everytime the A/C turnt on. Zero stars if I could. DEFINITELY not a 3.5 stars hotel!
