Not at all what we expected. We thought it wouldn't be very good and more like a Pirates of Caribbean movie. BUT, it was actually very cool to walk through and find the clues inside while learning about real pirate stuff, not the Hollywood version. Be the captain of a ship, fire a real cannon, search for hidden clues to become a certified pirate at the end of the tour. So much history inside, 1 of 3 Jolly Roger flags on display as well as the only real treasure chest on display and a gold bar that you can left to see how heavy they are. Whether you have kids or not this is fun for all ages.
This is not a place to bring young kids my kids are five and three. I'm not sure exactly why I'm even giving this 2 Stars maybe it's because I generally appreciate museums and they did have some actual stuff that was interesting but it's unbelievable they get away charging anything to get inside. Inside the audio tour section there was vomit on the floor.
I loved this.....except of the 'bus' of school kids. They were unexpected, I understand that. The building and rooms are very tight and small, but have so many unique items! It feels cramped with more then 5 people in a room. However, The history here is amazing! I loved the Tour guide! He really brought all the pieces of St. Aug history together for us.
